Abstract

This study examines the interpellation of entrepreneurship ideology in education through an qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. The research gathered data via interviews, observation, and document analysis. The data reveals how school functioning as an Ideological State Apparatus (ISA) by instilling values of individualism and competition, exemplified through the screening of motivational videos featuring Paralympic athletes—a narrative that idealizes personal perseverance. However, interviews with school dropouts uncover a counter-ideology, where students reject formal education's logic as irrelevant to their interests and life needs. Conversely, a student's Facebook status exemplifies how schools reinforce the entrepreneurship ideology by showcasing those who have internalized this ideology, creating an image of the "ideal student" in the eyes of teachers and school administrators. These findings prompt critical reflection on education's role in reproducing inequality, amidst the dominant discourse positioning entrepreneurship as a solution to social problems.
